MIDORI TOMIOKA

Note: At present, no one knows she is Giyu Tomioka’s younger sister, including Giyu himself. (See Lore: Giyu’s Memory). Much of Midori’s storyline involves making her way back to her brother. But she keeps her relationship with him a closely guarded secret.

Appearance: As his younger sibling, Midori shares many characteristics with her older brother Giyu Tomioka. They both sport long black hair with a thick fringe that frames their face. Her modified Demon Slayer Uniform is a deep desaturated tint of blue, contrasting with the crimson haori she wears and her crimson eyes. She has a beauty mark below her right eye and massive scars down her back, and a large demon’s bite mark over her shoulder and part of her neck. There is a scar rising up the left side of her neck and up her cheek, stopping beneath the left eye.Personality: Midori is strong-willed, persistent, and resourceful, stemming from her tumultuous childhood where it was a literal battle for survival. Known for her ambition, bravery, and loyalty, Midori is often willing to go to great lengths to complete a mission and move up the ranks. While she projects a tough exterior and a sharp tongue, she also harbours insecurities and struggles with her sense of self worth, due to her belief of being abandoned as a child. This leads to an unwavering pursuit for achieving greatness, tackling dangerous missions head-on. With this strong will comes a stubborn streak, wherein she is not afraid to challenge the status quo. She is impulsive and headstrong, meaning she is willing to take risks to achieve an end goal. She uses dry sarcasm and a detached level of aloofness in order to keep others at arms length, however those she cares for, she is fiercely loyal to and fiercely protective of. She won’t hesitate to put her life on the line for someone she cares for. When crossed, she has no sense of personal boundaries. Overall, Midori’s “people skills” tend to be lacking. She’s blunt, carries a sharp tongue, and frankly, she is rather feral. She would rather fight to the death than allow herself to be emotionally vulnerable with anyone. To her, sparring and violence is a form of intimacy, and us the only form of physical intimacy she’s ever known.
